Ice Damage Cleanup

December 11, 2008, the Berkshires of Western Mass suffered a seemily mild rain storm, at least at my house, but just up a few hundred feet up in elevation, the rain turned to ice and destroyed an incredible number of trees making hundreds of miles of trail virtually impassable.



We spent many months clearing the damage from this one storm. Trails we cleared included: Turner, Boyscout, Pine Mt., Tower Mt., Hawthorne, Taconic Crest, Lulu Cascade, the Family loop and all the “ghost” trails. Finally, on Saturday November 14, 2009, almost a full year after the ice storm, we finally cleared the last trail we had on our radar, the Parker Brook Trail:
